A Bit About Us
Aloha & Hi, welcome to the bit where we let you know about us and what we try to do.
Mick Stallworthy & Allie Scott live about a mile inland from the
beautiful, windy and very interesting (hence the name) West Penwith
coast line about 7 miles from Lands End.
We try to live as environmentally aware as possible thus as many of the
products on this site are made from recycled or reclaimed materials as
possible.
All the wood that we use for the driftwood furniture is real driftwood
found within a 10 mile radius of where we live, keeping the
driving (unfortunately we do still drive but our van is 45 years
old now and is still very economic) to a minimum. The reclaimed wood is
gathered from builder friends therefore cutting down on their waste too.
Newspaper for the papier mache ( the Cornishman mainly)
is donated by friends and family, I don't think I've ever had to buy a
paper just to mache with.
The Jewelery is made either with sea glass or fair trade recycled glass beads.
As a whole, as a business we try to use what we can and consume as
little as possible. Packaging in the gallery is either made from
newspaper or tree saver paper , the plastics are degradable, and we
always ask if a bag is neccesary, its nice to see how many people will
care enough to say no.
We know what we are trying to do is a mere drop in the ocean but if we
all try to do our bit it's gotta help,right! So by buying that
Christmas, birthday or Wedding pressie from us you can say you did your
bit too.
